# What is an unmoderated study?

# Moderate / Non-moderate: what is it?

During a **moderate** survey (an interview for example), you are in front of a person who asks you questions.
For a non-moderated survey, it's different, you don't have anyone in front of you nor an appointment date: you carry out the survey alone, at the time you want.

# What are the types of non-moderated surveys?

On Tandemz, you can carry out different formats of unmoderated surveys:

### 1. Survey

This is a questionnaire with closed questions sent to a large number of people. It can be more or less interactive: it can contain images or elements to be classified for example.

### 2. Navigation on a website

You have to carry out tasks on a website (searching for information, creating an account, simulating the purchase of a product or service...). At the same time, you will be asked to answer a questionnaire and even take screenshots. The actions you take on the website can be recorded.

### 3. Self-recorded studies

This is the same as browsing a website, with the addition of recording your webcam and microphone. You are asked to comment as much as possible on your actions, feelings and thoughts as you complete the tasks.

### 4. Journal

This is a type of study that is carried out over a longer or shorter period of time (a few weeks to a few months), where you are asked to carry out actions on a regular basis.
For example :
- Using an application for a month and answering a questionnaire every week
- Take a picture every day of what you eat

# Differences in compensation

|| A survey or a navigation on a website is much less restrictive than an interview (there is no appointment time to respect and it often lasts less than 30 minutes), which is why the compensation is lower: around 8€ for a 20-30 minute questionnaire.

|| Self-registered surveys and the diary are more demanding surveys, which is why the compensation is higher: around 30€ for a 30-60 minute survey.
